Reinforcements Have Arrived

So as I alluded to in my previous post, The Warlock’s disbanded Astra Millipede have worked their way across through the warp, and are preparing to be incorporated into the Cadian 42nd.  The Quartermaster has advised that Marmite supplies are now critically low.

More like a box of holding, amirite?
More like a box of holding, amirite?

So what you’re looking at is as follows:

  • LR Vanquisher (more than half built)
  • LR Exterminator (built)
  • Taurox (mostly built — I’ve since made it a second BRRRRT ‘Rox)
  • Hellhound (old style)
  • ~30 Regular Cadian Troopies
  • 3 Heavy Weapon Teams (ish)
  • 6 Ulmar’s Apprentices
  • 24 Inquisitorial Stormtroopers incl. 2 sarges, plasma, grenade
  • 4+ Scions (mostly built, kitbashed to extend parts)
  • Rokkit Armoured Sentinel
  • A metric fuck-tonne of bitz

I kind of sat there on the back deck soaking in the box and the implied potential for hobbying in the near future.  It’s a huge delivery.  Optimistically, this box will occupy my time for a couple of months.  Realistically, I could be working on it for about a year.

I think prioritizing will be important here, and I’ve kind of put together this small short-list:

  1. Russes.  Always need more.
  2. Hellhound
  3. Taurox Prime
  4. Stormtroopers
  5. Regular Troopies

The vehicles, because they take the least time for me, and stormtroopers because I’ve been derping around with Militarum Tempestus lately.

This is an old guardsman from a by-gone era. I almost like his sculpt the best, to be perfectly honest...

Ulmar-lite. For when you want an Ulmar, but none of the yucky calories. These guys are likely going to be subbing in as ML-1 Ulmars for distribution among foot-sloggers for a nice Leadership boost and psychic support buffs.

Once I had gotten over myself a bit, put things into perspective, I brought the Scions downstairs and into my lair, to see what I could do with them.

Within about half an hour I had gotten the arms off the medic-scion and turned him into a Scion with a death-wish.

Maybe he *really* misses his parents or something.
Maybe he *really* misses his parents or something.

“It took you an hour to do that?!?!” you might be asking?  Well, apparently The Warlock doesn’t mess around, because he uses some kind of nuclear fusion to glue the models together.  It took some pretty serious torque with a pair of pliers before I could get them off, and I was another 30 seconds away from brutally using the plastic snips.  I’m not optimistic about being able to trim the barrel off of the Vanquisher Russ in order to change it into a regular MBT on this basis… but we shall see…

The Warlock's tools of the Trade. I might have to get me some.

I also like his ideas pertaining to his Tempestor Prime.  Most of the stuff is hidden under cloaks, etc, so why not just use a regular guardsmen’s torso?

I added a bit of extra bling, in the medallion and the shoulder-pad turned knee-pad, but it fills out his character nicely.  I put the servo-skull on (perhaps a bit haphazardly) in order to emphasize his greatness.

You can hardly notice his torso isn’t fully armoured any more, can you?

Anyways, that’s it for me.  Cheers guys.

  1. That is quite the haul! Wow! Tanks…tanks everywhere.

Every time I see some scions…that kit is just so lovely. They are such gorgeous models!

    1. Yeah, my next group shot is going to be pretty big. Putting this into perspective, I’ve added almost 33% to my guard force I think…

I have much painting to do….

  2. Do you have marmite in Canada I always think of marmite as well a perculearly British thing.

That old school sculpt has to end up a veteran seargent or something cool 🙂

    1. I always thought Marmite was a very Australian thing. Am I getting my cultural tropes confused here…?

Short answer is no. Marmite isn’t really a ‘thing’ here in Canada. Hence my ignorance.

      1. Vegemite, not marmite. Marmite’s the UK thing I think? It’s spread on thinly as it’s strong and salty.

Heh, hope they serve you well Oak. There should be a heavy bolter old style cadian somewhere I think, and a bunch of metal captains. The Tempestenor Prime was a tank commander plus the cloak, as it seemed to bad to waste it 😀

So much plasma…he needs to yell EAT HOT PLASMA everytime he rolls a 1 for “gets hot” 😛 The rest of the cadian flashlight interns should be arriving shortly.

        As for the Address, it’s:

        The Warlock,
        Cubicle 7, Office floor 3
        House of Paincakes Offices
        The Internet, 1337

        😛

        1. Spread thinly with lots of butter which is why it’s best on toast so that it all melts together and you can spread it into all the corners. Hmm might need to make some toast

          1. Pretty much only touch vegemite when I have toast. Or there’s cheese crackers about….or just regular flat wheat cracker things are present.

              1. When I have PB on toast it’s usually mixed in with some honey. Not much of a spread person though Strawberry jam is heaven

                1. And what does one add to the curry? I am most certainly not writing this down for future experimentation 😛

                  1. Right take that paste you’ve mixed up put into a hot pan until you get a strong smell from the spices add diced chicken breast until it’s sealed pour a can of coconut milk over the top then add some baby/salad potatoes and some string beans and baby corn let the whole thing simmer for about 20 mins keep tasting till you hit a level you like the longer it simmers the hotter your curry will be. Serve with jasmine rice 🙂

                  1. Honestly I’m not sure. I thought PB was huge in the US as there’s peanut butter and chocolate everything. Like reese’s cups, those are taking off here in Oz. O.o

                    1. oh it is! Gigantic in the US and Canada. I`m really snobby about which type of PB to get as well. And Reece`s is like crack cocaine. Keep that shit away from me, I`m still on step 6 of my 10 step program.

    1. Right? I mean, there’s only the 1 metal Cadian with the old-school Vietnam era garb (plus shoulderpads! For added protection!) in this collection, but it’s neat to see where the design ideas came from.

I might be throwing something a bit different at Little Horus when next we play…..
