Project R: Integrating by Parts

EDIT: Took down the cover image because for some reason it was overwhelming people’s blog-rolls…. Not sure why prisma did this…

I’m still moving glacially slow when it comes to my painting projects I’m afraid, however I think a part of this might be the fact that I’m not dividing this ship into manageable parts.  With this in mind, I’ve been making incremental progress on the parts I’ve already got assembled, concentrating on the forward superstructure and funnel assembly (which was a testing bed for my painting style, colours, etc.)

I managed to pick up the productivity to about one paint session per week which is better than none but still leaves a lot to be desired.

ANYHOO!  Progress!

Just as a reminder, this is more or less where we wound up after the last session.  The launches are basecoated but little else, and some elements have been shaded, but not drybrushed at all.

No longer!

Funnel assembly has been drybrushed, as well as the hangars and workshop areas on-deck.  Secondary batteries were layered up nicely also  but not the 105mm’s.  Those are coming up next.  You’ll also note that the forward superstructure has been shaded.  I was a bit worried that it’d look really stupid, with all of the flat wide-open spaces on it.   Layered up however it looks pretty good on the whole, softens everything, and gives it a bit of depth.

I think I’m going to focus on testing my deck painting ideas on the upper superstructure.  Hopefully it works, but if it doesn’t, nothing lost.  Also, finishing the 105mm’s and boat launches will be a big priority.

That’s it for now,  but I’m hoping to get more posts in, and generally more progress:

But then, the road to hobby-hell is paved with good intentions.

Cheers all.

    1. what? You can’t expand them? When did wordpress change my default setting…. *GRRRR*

But yes. Thanks Mr. Greggles 🙂 Getting more disciplined is definitely helping…

    2. This is weird. I have no idea how this is happening. I’m not big into web stuffs but even when you copy and paste the URL directly into your browser it looks like it’s coded to be at the fixed size… if you remove the size requirement (IE anything after the ‘?’) you can blow it up to its original res. Maybe I’ll play around with some newer themes to see if it’ll help how things are presented here…..
